At
Etz Hayim we celebrate at holidays throughout the year. On Sukkot
we eat a pot luck meal in the sukkah (weather permitting).
Hanukkah includes the annual Latke contest, featuring traditional and
exotic recipes. At Purim we may join is a Spiel, dress in
ridiculous costumes or simply gather to entertain our children.
The Passover Seder features creative games and skits to supplement the
telling of the Haggadah.
We observe Shabbat together. We hold a monthly Shabbat pot luck
dinner which offers the best food for miles around. Our Pajama
Havdalah was a huge favorite, showcasing the Rabbi in footsie pajamas
and a bowler hat.
We gather in community. In the summer we hold a picnic with a pot
luck lunch, swimming and games. Through the winter the Sisterhood
sponsors games Nights and other outings. In the spring we have a
social affair such as a dinner dance, coffee house, or concert that
allows the entire community and their friends to gather for fun.
Etz Hayim’s Sisterhood sponsors a number of events through the
year.
