Elijah's Table Yard Sale a Double Mitzvah

Double Mitzvah Yard Sale Turns into Double Fun Event.

The Elijah’s Table yard sale (which took place on Sunday, August 4, in front of the Synagogue) was a huge success. We made over $1,000, which will be used to help fund a year of free community meals. The yard sale also provided a wonderful opportunity for our young volunteers (confirmands Jessica Sandler, Jared and Orianna Kane, and Samuel Lynn, and recent Bar Mitzvah Santino Cerino) to do good work for the community; indeed, helping to make the yard sale successful was Santino’s Bar Mitzvah project. On top of it all, the yard sale was great fun.

Given our noble purpose, perhaps it should come as no surprise that good forces seemed to operate in our favor throughout the day. Despite early accounts of bad weather, it did not start to rain until we had completely cleaned up. A road detour led cars right by the Synagogue throughout the yard sale! And, on top of it all, Rabbi and Connie Rieser showed up out of the blue – maybe they were diverted to the Synagogue too.

Thanks to everyone who contributed items to the sale, and to Rabbi Milkow and President Sarah Finne Sandler for supporting the project. And special thanks to the folks who, along with our wonderful teens, helped to run the show: Richard and Linda Rosenberg, Arlene and Jonathan Kane, David Riese, Karen Patterson, Craig and Jen Cerino, and Dina Michael Chaitowitz.

We have a fantastic Synagogue!
