Our Bima table was designed and built by Ken Peake of Peake Woodworks in Sandown, NH, a friend of our late congregant, Bill Einhorn (Ohav B’Shalom) z"l. The table is designed to complement our Aron Kodesh, in both color and design and is made of maple. To assist him in the design process, Ken eagerly visited our Ark in its home at the church, and also spent time in the space where the table would be placed in our new building. There was much input from Rabbi Louis Rieser z"l as well as several members of the congregation as we debated the overall size and shape.
The theme of ten is repeated on the front face of the table. Copper accents the legs to complement the copper in the Ark. The front edge of the table curves gently to match the curve on the Bima. An additional piece of copper is placed asymmetrically on the front face, as is also the case on the Aron Kodesh, to remind us that our world is not a perfect place and we are working along with HaShem in Tikun Olam, repairing the world.
