Our Library

In 2026, generous contributions by Larry & Linda Boise enabled us to transform our library space into a warm and welcoming home for learning, reflection and discovery.  Their support reflects a shared commitment to learning, community, and the importance of preserving and celebrating Jewish knowledge.

We also extend our gratitude to Kristina Zweig, who generously volunteered her time, creativity, and talents to design and furnish our synagogue library. Her thoughtful attention to every detail has created a library that will enrich our congregation for generations to come.

And with special appreciation to our dedicated volunteer librarians, Cindy Landau and Linda Boise, who gave their time and energy to organize, catalog, and curate our collection, making it accessible and inviting to all.

Together, through generosity, creativity, and countless hours of volunteer service, they have created a lasting gift to our congregation—a beautiful space where people of all ages can read, learn, grow, and connect.  With deepest appreciation to everyone whose generosity, vision, and hard work brought our synagogue library to life.

In 2022, after two years of Covid delays and months of planning, the library of Etz Hayim Synagogue was beautifully renovated by David Meyer, who at 17 years old, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 136. With the help of Shawn Schuyler of Schuyler General Contractors, and guidance from David’s Eagle Coach, Steph Landau our library was transformed into a beautiful space of learning.  Our volunteer temple library, Cindy Landau, with the assistance of David's home troop, cataloged almost 300 books.

David loved to attend Shabbat Services and built a bond with the community and felt it have given so much to him, it only felt right for the Temple to receive something in exchange, and chose to replace the library as his Eagle Scout project.

David focused his attention on the library, as the shelves had started to bow and sway from the weight of books, resulting in limiting our book inventory. The renovation provided a more robust and enduring structure, and elevated the space from a room full of books to a true library atmosphere. Birch was selected as the material for the shelving unit to match the existing Torah ark, bimah, lectern, and chairs.
